As of July 3, 2017, under the “Regulation on International Health Tourism and Tourist Health” published in the Official Gazette, it became mandatory to possess an International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate for providing any kind of healthcare services to individuals who temporarily come to our country for health purposes from abroad. This applies to non-citizens of the Republic of Turkey, as well as Turkish citizens residing abroad.
With this decision, obtaining a “Health Tourism Authorization Certificate” has been made mandatory, and healthcare institutions and intermediary companies without this certificate are prohibited from engaging in health tourism. In order for healthcare institutions (hospitals, clinics, polyclinics, etc.) to continue providing health tourism services, they must obtain the authorization certificate issued by the Ministry of Health.
To obtain this certificate, institutions must meet certain physical and medical qualifications. Additionally, institutions holding this certificate are subject to regular inspections, ensuring that they consistently maintain high standards and adhere to strict criteria.
