Tooth- and Tissue-Supported Removable Dentures Partial Dentures

Commonly referred to as clasp dentures, these prostheses are preferred in the following cases:

  • Presence of long toothless gaps unsuitable for bridge placement,
  • Jaw areas with missing teeth at the ends, where no anchor teeth are available for a bridge,
  • Patients unable to undergo implant treatment due to economic, psychological, or physiological reasons.

These dentures consist of a metal framework that rests on the adjacent teeth with clasps, while the edentulous areas are supported by soft tissue. Acrylic teeth are placed on the framework to restore the missing teeth, offering an economical solution for tooth replacement.

Advantages

  • Partial dentures are an economical option and have a short preparation time.
  • These dentures allow for the addition of teeth if other teeth, aside from those supporting the clasps, are lost, and they can last for many years with proper care.
  • They provide better stabilization and are more comfortable to use compared to complete dentures.
  • They are cost-effective.

Maintenance

To ensure both oral hygiene and the longevity of the dentures, it is essential to pay attention to the cleanliness of the dentures and the supporting oral tissues. Teeth in the mouth should be brushed with a toothbrush and toothpaste for at least 2 minutes twice a day, morning and evening. The removable partial denture should be cleaned daily using a special denture brush and denture cleaners. Regular dental check-ups every 6 months are recommended to assess the condition of the supporting tissues and the compatibility of the dentures with these tissues.
